For many alums, these off-campus restaurants played a significant role in shaping their college experience. You might remember some of these restaurants as places where you laughed with friends over a quick bite or scarfed down food before rushing to your next exam; some of these spots you may have never heard of. Known for its classic bar food, lively atmosphere, and interactive events\u2014including sports game broadcasts\u2014it became a community hub. Its cozy atmosphere and mouthwatering menu, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/articles\/2010\/scoozi-tastes-good-looks-great\/?utm_medium=bualumni&amp;utm_source=link&amp;utm_campaign=website_bualumni&amp;utm_term=butoday&amp;utm_content=scoozis_tastes_good_news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>featuring 16 different kinds of panini<\/span><\/a>, made it the perfect spot for casual meals. Open until 3 am, <\/span>it attracted night owls from nearby nightlife spots like The Rat. However, a city dispute over fire safety led to its sudden closure in 2019. In an effort to pass the torch, Lawton put the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/articles\/2019\/you-could-own-roast-beast-make-your-best-offer\/?utm_medium=bualumni&amp;utm_source=link&amp;utm_campaign=website_bualumni&amp;utm_term=butoday&amp;utm_content=own_roast_beast_news\">brand and recipes up for sale<\/a> for anyone who may be interested in taking over Roast Beast\u2014however, there are no records indicating that the assets were ever bought. Its mellow atmosphere and budget-friendly menu make it the perfect choice for a quick bite before class or a post-hockey game hangout. Fortunately, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/articles\/2023\/sunset-cantina-reopens-with-bu-alum-as-co-owner\/?utm_medium=bualumni&amp;utm_source=link&amp;utm_campaign=website_bualumni&amp;utm_term=butoday&amp;utm_content=sunset_cantina_catarina_chang_news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>BU alum Catarina Chang (SHA&#8217;11)<\/span><\/a> and her partners stepped up to revive revitalize the classic West Campus spot. Beloved by many alumni, it unfortunately closed in 2020 due to the pandemic. However, in October 2023, the restaurant made a much-anticipated return, bringing back its delicious food and sophisticated atmosphere. Founded in 1973 by John and Pam Beale, Cornwall\u2019s is now run by their nephews JR and Billy, and niece Elizabeth. With its convenient location, it\u2019s a great spot to study, catch up with friends, or grab a quick bite.
