The Foundation Relations<\/a> (FR) team within Boston University\u2019s Advancement connects faculty and staff with grantmakers and charitable organizations\u2014both private philanthropic foundations and nongovernmental organizations\u2014who have a likely interest in supporting their work.<\/p>\n

Foundations and NGOs are particularly valuable to BU researchers, many of whom conduct pilot, proof-of-concept, or high-risk research that is not suitable for traditional sources of funding, such as the NIH and NSF. The FR team\u2019s goal is to provide expert guidance in matching a given BU project with the most appropriate private funding organization.<\/p>\n

If you are associated with a foundation or NGO in any way and can help us make a connection, we\u2019d love to hear from you<\/a>. Although we already work with many excellent foundations, we are always eager to learn about others. We are particularly interested in expanding our network with international foundations.<\/p>\n

\nMAHMAZ: Maternity Homes Access in Zambia<\/a>: to determine if maternity homes help reduce risks associated with delivery in low-income settings and improve maternal and neonatal child health. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Z-PRIME<\/h4>

\nZambian Pertussis\/RSV Infant Mortality Investigation (Z-PRIME)<\/a>: seeks to reduce infant mortality caused by respiratory illness and inform a maternal vaccine strategy in Zambia, by gathering data on infant deaths that can be attributed to pertussis and RSV, two respiratory diseases circulating in Lusaka. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

SPINZ<\/h4>

\nSepsis Prevention in Neonates in Zambia (SPINZ) Study: a study designed to evaluate the impact of a novel bundle of infection control interventions in hospitalized neonates. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.<\/p>\n

LeBoHA<\/h4>

\nThe Lesotho-Boston Health Alliance (LeBoHA)<\/a> aims to strengthen management, policy, planning, and clinical capacity in the health sector of Lesotho. Funders include: WK Kellogg Foundation, Dreyfus Health Foundation, Izumi Foundation, Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA).

Vietnam Family Medicine<\/h4>

\nThe Vietnam Family Medicine Project<\/a>: a similar mission in the health sector of Vietnam.
\nFunders include: Atlantic Philanthropies, J&K Wonderland Stiftung, Manan Trust, Shin Kong Life Foundation (SKLF).
