HFI Diet #3

1.      Special references to chewing gum and sorbitol - most chewing gums have this sugar and should be AVOIDED.

2.      Yogurts – Non-fruit yogurts may contain fructose (vanilla, coffee).  For example, Yoplait’s vanilla yogurt does not list fructose; however, General Mills confirmed that fructose falls under the category of ‘natural flavorings.’

3.      Spices – Specifically, cinnamon, garlic, poppy seeds, or onion should be ok.

4.      Peanut Butter – Due to the high calorie and high protein content, it’s a great source of nutrition for the ‘failing to thrive’ child, BUT MOST contain fructose.  AVOID all but PURE, no additive brands.

5.      Medicines – Specifically for children like Children’s Tylenol or Advil or Benedryl and Zithromax, Amoxicillin…  Nearly ALL have high levels of fructose, and should be AVOIDED.

6.      Vinegar – Pure Vinegar (distilled) should not have any fructose.

7.      CORN SYRUP – THIS IS JUST ANOTHER WORD FOR ‘FRUCTOSE’!!!
