Call for Papers

Emerging Issues in Bioethics

The 2020 American Journal of Law and Medicine symposium will be titled, Emerging Issues in Bioethics. Panels will discuss bioethical legal issues in new and developing areas of health care. Priority will be given to papers that discuss telemedicine, artificial intelligence, the pharmaceutical patent process, and the opioid crisis. This is an open call for papers from any academic perspective, including, but not limited to, law, public health, medicine, economics, bioethics, history and anthropology.

Accepted papers will be published in the Symposium Edition and presented at the symposium at Boston University in January 2020. Please send a one-page abstract, as well as complete contact information and a resume/CV, to ajlm@bu.edu by August 15, 2019. Selected authors will be notified by August 30, 2019. Full-length articles should be submitted by early January 2020 for inclusion in the symposium. Completed articles must be no longer than 7,000 words, including citations, and must touch on bioethics. AJLM pays for reasonable travel expenses of invited authors.
