Pardee School of Global Studies, piloted\u00a0a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ghblast\/2015\/12\/16\/registration-open-for-swahili-language-with-a-health-focus-course-cas-le491\/\">Swahili language course designed for Masters of Public Health candidates<\/a>\u00a0during the Spring 2016 semester, and students discussed the benefits of the course as well as the close\u00a0the ties between the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/\">School of Public Health<\/a>\u00a0and the African Studies Center.<\/p>\n<p><span>The class, Swahili With a Health Focus (<span>CAS LE491), emphasizes\u00a0<\/span>Swahili\u00a0<\/span><span>language useful\u00a0in conducting fieldwork and surveys, as well as cultural specific notions of health.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/profile\/jennifer-beard\/\">Jennifer Beard<\/a>, Assistant Professor of Global Health, took the class<\/span>\u00a0this semester, and said the African Studies Center provides a link for faculty and students at the Medical Campus to colleagues on the Charles River Campus with similar research areas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/2016\/05\/02\/asc-offers-swahili-course-for-public-health-students\/\">More<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Boston University\u2019s\u00a0African Studies Center\u00a0(ASC), an affiliated center of the Frederick S.
