Students across a variety of fields of study at BU can pursue rigorous academic programs at the ASC, including undergraduate minors in African studies, a major in Linguistics and African Languages, and a graduate certificate in African Studies. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/africa\/forstudents\/\">Learn more about academic programs here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Events, Funding, and Other Opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Beyond our degree programs, the ASC offers an array of opportunities and resources on and off campus, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/africa\/forstudents\/alp\/flas\/\"><strong>Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships<\/strong><\/a> for students to support intensive language study in the US and across Africa in 9 African languages<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/africa\/outreach\/\"><strong>K-16 Education Outreach Program<\/strong><\/a> provides workshops, opportunities, and resource development for K-16 teachers and pre-service educators<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/african-studies\/\"><strong>African Studies Library<\/strong><\/a> at Mugar Library is home to special collections, books, pamphlets, and other materials, as well as a dedicated staff of African studies librarians<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/africa\/about\/events\/\"><strong>Walter Rodney Seminar Series<\/strong><\/a> has showcased established and young scholars from a variety of fields touching on African studies for over 40 years<\/li>\n<li>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/africa\/publications\/\"><strong>Publications Program<\/strong><\/a> publishes the latest research with series of working papers and the peer-reviewed <em>International Journal of African Historical Studies<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Additional events like the CineMAfriq Film Series, the Morse Distinguished Lecture, and African Language Theater Night\u00a0posted to our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/africa\/about\/events\/calendar\/\">Calendar<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol><\/ol>\n<p><strong>Stay abreast of the latest news, event announcements, and opportunities by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.us7.list-manage.com\/subscribe?u=9d6494985a6be74b872ec1203&amp;id=45bcf09d6a\">subscribing to our email Weekly Brief<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Explore our site using the navigation tabs at the top of this page.
