It\u2019s the second-largest and second-most-populous continent on the planet and makes up 20% of the total landmass on earth. Across the board, Africa countries are rising players in world politics, economics, global health, environmental studies, international relations, and business. So, why wouldn&#8217;t you want to take an African language?!<\/p>\n<p>The African Studies Center is one of the oldest and best-regarded centers of its kind in the US, and language study is a central pillar. Our instructors are native speakers, and their diverse teaching methods develop and strengthen oral and written language skills to prepare you for in-country research or work post-graduation. Many of our students choose to apply for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/africa\/forstudents\/alp\/flas\/\">Foreign Language &amp; Area Studies Program<\/a> (FLAS) which enables the ASC to fund select undergraduate and graduate students who commit to both language and regional studies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over one billion people live in Africa.
