Climate Change and Tomorrow's Africa: Morse Distinguished Lecture and Water Rodney Conference

Africa contributes less than 4 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, yet it faces some of the most severe consequences of the climate crisis — from prolonged droughts and floods to mounting threats to food security, livelihoods, and physical and mental health. This year, the African Studies Center is pleased to offer the Bradford Morse Distinguished Lecture and Walter Rodney Conference as a two-day event (4/16-4/17) that will bring scientists together to engage the public with these crucial issues Dr Harrison Charo-Karisa will lead the Bradford Morse Distinguished Lecture "Turning the Tide on Climate and Food Insecurity in Africa"  on Thursday April 16th at 5PM at Hillel House, 213 Bay State Rd.  The day will start at 8:30AM with a light breakfast, followed by two morning panels:  9 AM: Panel Session 1: Climate Resilience in Africa through Technology, Ecosystem Stewardship, and Sustainability. 10:45AM: Panel Session 2: Climate change threatens Africa’s ecosystems systems, economies, and livelihoods; need for coordinated, resilient solutions. On Friday morning, 4/17, the sessions will continue with a focus on Climate Impacts on Human and Ecosystem Health This conference and lecture are free and open to the public. Registration is required.
