ASCA is a Nonprofit organization that operates in Senegal and officially incorporated in the State of North Carolina, USA. The goal of ASCA is to promote cultural relations and good understanding between the peoples of Senegal and the US through the exchange of languages, cultural exchange, and digital learning.The Director of ASCA oversees the development and implementation of various programs at the ASCA Language Center in Pikine, Senegal. The person will work with collaborators in Pikine, and other organizations to ensure registration, develop education initiatives and programs that promote English classes, digital literacy and cultural awareness and appreciation. Since this is a developing program, the director plays a crucial role in managing partnerships with collaborating schools, and organizations, and providing opportunities for students to study abroad. Responsibilities include budget management, program promotion, program evaluation, and reporting to stakeholders. The Director of ASCA is responsible for establishing the Center, collaborating with local staff, ensuring that the highest standards of program and academic excellence.Experience must include study and/or work in West Africa, Senegal preferred. The Director possesses a deep passion for African Affairs, developing education exchange initiatives, socio-cultural connections across the Atlantic, and values cultural exchange. A Director of ASCA’s position is ideal for a North American national who is conducting research, graduate students, or a postdoc fellow who wants to make a difference in research and education sector in West Africa. Job Duties and Responsibilities• Develop and maintain relationships with local stuff and partners• Work with ASCA’s main office to raise funds and seek grants to support expanding the programs• Manage the Center’s programs and oversee course developments and implementation•. Teach one elementary or intermediate class each semester.• Advise students and staff on education opportunities in the Sates and beyond• Collaborate with the main office to expand the reach of the Center and develop national curriculum and research opportunities• Evaluate classes’ effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement CompensationASCA aims to establish Langue Centers within local Senegalese neighborhoods to make learning accessible and affordable to children, school kids, businessmen, and adult learners. ASCA’s first Language Center is based in Pikine, Dakar. Therefore, the Director is expected to live in the same neighborhood. As compensation, ASCA will provide lodging, a secure local language tutor, and a monthly stipend of 100.000 CFA. This is a 9-month appointment, renewable upon review.
