Boston University offers the prestigious Martin Luther King, Jr. Fellowship to exceptional incoming master’s and professional students who demonstrate a strong commitment to social justice principles inspired by Dr. King.
Fellowship Details
Eligibility
- Open to U.S. citizens.
- Must be an incoming graduate student (master’s or professional degree) at Boston University.
Award
- Up to three years of full-time tuition coverage.
- Annual stipend of $30,000 for living expenses (8 months, service-free).
- Coverage of Student Services and Health & Wellness fees.
- Boston University basic health insurance provided.
Application & Timeline:
Students cannot apply directly for this award. Nominations must come from their Department/Program Director.
All nominee materials will be submitted through the following Qualtrics portal. The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, February 28, 2025.
Nomination Materials & Instructions:
Departments must submit a single collated PDF that includes:
- Cover Memo from Nominator: A one page document detailing the nominee’s qualifications and alignment with the fellowship.
- Nominee’s Complete Graduate Application: Include all required materials for your BU graduate program.
- Nominee’s Statement: A personal statement (2 pages max) from the nominee describing:
- Academic and professional accomplishments
- Commitment to social justice through community involvement
- Nominators should communicate with their nominees to ensure the written statement is included as part of the complete nomination packet.
