To ensure the most comprehensive review of your application for admission, applicants must also submit the following credentials in addition to the Common Application:<\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"true\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Credentials for First-Year Applicants<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">\n<p>First-year applicants must submit all of the following credentials to Boston University.\u00a0After you have read the instructions below, if you have questions, please email us at<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"mailto:admissions@bu.edu\">admissions@bu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>To be submitted by your teachers and guidance counselors<\/h4>\n<h5>HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT<\/h5>\n<p>Official copies of your secondary school transcripts for all grading periods completed at the time of application. If you are enrolled in an international curriculum with national exams, submit these results as well.<\/p>\n<h5>GUIDANCE COUNSELOR RECOMMENDATION AND SCHOOL REPORT FORM<\/h5>\n<p>You\u2019ll find the Guidance Counselor Recommendation form and\u00a0School Report Form\u00a0on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.commonapp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Common Application<\/a> website.<\/p>\n<h5>TEACHER EVALUATION<\/h5>\n<p>The Teacher Evaluation form is available on the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.commonapp.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Common Application<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>website.<\/p>\n<h5>COLLEGE\/UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPT(S)<\/h5>\n<p>If you\u2019re applying to BU as a first-year undergraduate student and have completed college or university coursework, you must submit official transcripts from these courses. If you\u2019ve enrolled at a college or university as a candidate in a degree program, you must apply to Boston University as a transfer student. If you\u2019re not sure of your status at the school you attended, please contact the registrar\u2019s office at that institution.<\/p>\n<h5>SENIOR YEAR GRADES<\/h5>\n<h6><strong>Early Decision Applicants<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>All Early Decision applicants are expected to submit first marking period grades, which may be first quarter or first trimester grades, as soon as they are available. Please ask your guidance counselor to submit an updated transcript or progress report through one of the methods outlined below.<\/p>\n<h6><strong>Early Decision 2 and Regular Decision Applicants<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>If you are on a semester schedule, please have your counselor send your first marking period or first quarter grades if available. Your counselor must also submit full first semester grades once they are available. They may use the Mid-Year Report Form through the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.commonapp.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Common <\/a>Application.<\/p>\n<p>If you are on a trimester schedule, please have your counselor submit your first trimester grades once they are available. While the SAT or ACT is no longer an application requirement, standardized test scores may be submitted with your application if you feel they are reflective of your academic ability.<\/p>\n<p>Boston University accepts self-reported standardized test scores on your application. You may submit your official test scores via<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.collegeboard.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">College Board<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>or<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ACT<\/a>, or through the self-report form on the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/applicant.bu.edu\/myBU\/s\/application\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MyBU Applicant Portal.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note:<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>If you submit self-reported standardized test scores, an official score report from the testing agency will be required before enrolling at Boston University. Please ask a dean, registrar, or other college official with access to your disciplinary record at each institution you attended as a degree candidate to complete and submit this form to <a href=\"mailto:schforms@bu.edu\">schforms@bu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Course Syllabi<\/h4>\n<p>To facilitate our review of courses for credit evaluation, we request that transfer applicants submit syllabi for all courses taken. To receive your credit evaluation in a timely manner, please submit syllabi as soon as you apply for admission to BU. Please upload PDFs to the <a href=\"http:\/\/applicant.bu.edu\/myBU\">MyBU Applicant Portal<\/a>\u00a0on the &#8220;Application Status&#8221; page, and include your name and date of birth at the top of each page. When choosing how to upload your documents, select &#8220;Admissions&#8221; documents, and then choose &#8220;Syllabi&#8221; from the document type drop-down menu.<\/p>\n<h4>High School Transcript<\/h4>\n<p>All transfer applicants must submit official copies of their secondary school transcripts.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure your transcript documents that you graduated from high school. If you enrolled in a college degree program before graduating high school (such as Early Admission, Dual Enrollment, or Running Start), indicate your enrollment on the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.commonapp.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Common <\/a>Application.<\/p>\n<h4>Proof of High School Graduation<\/h4>\n<p>You must submit proof of high school graduation, showing that you satisfied all state requirements. If you haven\u2019t graduated from a regionally accredited high school, submit results of your Test of General Education Development (GED) or high school equivalency exam.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>International transfer applicants:<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em>If you were enrolled in a <span>world<\/span> curriculum with national exams, submit these results as well as your transcripts. (See English Proficiency in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/admissions\/apply\/international\/\">International Applicants section<\/a>.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Students who are most competitive for admission will have a composite score of at least 90-100 and minimum scores of 20 in each section. The Board of Admissions looks closely at the score for each section as well as for consistency across all subscores within each single language proficiency test.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the new TOEFL iBT score reports beginning January 21,\u00a02026, students who are most competitive for admission will have a total\/overall score of 5.0 or higher. BU will also review your component scores for consistency within each subject area.<\/p>\n<p><span>However, an applicant may request an English proficiency waiver. Waiver requests must be received by the application deadline and must accompany a complete application. The decision to waive the English proficiency requirement is at the discretion of the Board of Admissions. All documented sources of support must be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>photocopies or original documents<\/li>\n<li>current (within 12 months of starting date at Boston University)<\/li>\n<li>written in English and documented in US Dollars<\/li>\n<li>signed and stamped by a bank official<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">You may submit this form and supporting documentation as PDFs with your\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.commonapp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Common <\/a>Application. Applicants should use the previous year\u2019s form when estimating the cost of attendance for their academic year. On the My Colleges tab, select Boston University.\u00a0You will find the link to upload your documents in the Other\u00a0Information section of the Application Questions.\u00a0Make sure your\u00a0documents are less than 500 MB in size.<\/p>\n<p>You may also upload these documents and view a comprehensive list of all required, received, and uploaded materials for your application in the <a href=\"http:\/\/applicant.bu.edu\/myBU\">MyBU Applicant Portal<\/a> under the \u201cApplication Status\u201d page. The MyBU Applicant Portal opens to applicants in early October each year.<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to keep copies of all documents sent to the University.
