They are also listed on the front dashboard page of your MyBU Student Portal.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Assistantships<\/h2>\n<p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What is an assistantship?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nA graduate assistantship is an opportunity to work with our full-time faculty by being involved in the classroom as a teaching assistant or by doing research. Our faculty look for students who have the knowledge and skills that are necessary to assist the professor, either in their course or with research.<\/p>\n<p>A part-time assistantship involves working 10 hours a week and a full-time assistantship is working 20 hours a week. Graduate assistantships are not in the form of tuition remission. Depending on the amount the assistantship awarded \u2013 payments will be disbursed weekly.<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in applying for an assistantship, you will need to fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/adminsc\/graduate-assistantship-application\/\">graduate assistantship application form<\/a> and upload a copy of your resume.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How do I apply for an assistantship?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nPlease fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/adminsc\/graduate-assistantship-application\/\">graduate assistantship application form<\/a> and upload a copy of your resume.<\/p>\n<p>Applying for the assistantship is not a guarantee that you will receive one. The graduate assistantship is based on faculty need. Our faculty will review each assistantship application and if they feel that the student meets their requirements, they will set up an interview to come in and meet with them.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Can online students apply for assistantships?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nUnfortunately, assistantships are available for on-campus students only.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<h2>CFA Scholarship<\/h2>\n<p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What is the CFA Scholarship?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nThe CFA Scholarship is for finance degree students who wish to earn the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA\u00ae) credential. The scholarship greatly reduces the exam application fee. The scholarship is awarded on a competitive basis. Students currently enrolled in any of our Master of Science in Financial Management programs are eligible to apply.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I would like to apply for the CFA Scholarship.<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nThe CFA Scholarship application opens every February and October only. Students currently pursuing a finance degree at BU MET will be informed by email of the application process. Scholarships are administered by the Department of Administrative Sciences at BU MET and granted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfainstitute.org\/en\/about\/universities\/university-affiliation#sort=%40titlewithfallback%20ascending\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CFA Institute<\/a>. All scholarships are awarded based on academic standing and aptitude for the CFA charter.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Compliance<\/h2>\n<p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I\u2019m unable to register for classes.<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nPlease check your compliance page or the front dashboard of your MyBU Student Portal, to see if you are not compliant with any Boston University Policy. Compliance issues range from missing an official undergraduate transcript after your acceptance, to unresolved tuition hold, and missing emergency contact number or local address.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I can\u2019t remove the compliance. Can someone remove it for me so I can register?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nUnfortunately, staff cannot bypass a student\u2019s compliance hold. Each student must resolve their compliance issues on a timely basis to register for class on time.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Courses<\/h2>\n<p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I want to register for my next course.<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nIf you are unsure what course to register for, refer to the Study Plan attachment (PDF) in your Welcome Email.<\/p>\n<p>You can also view your program\u2019s list of required courses on the Administrative Sciences department website, by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/adminsc\/programs\/\">selecting your program<\/a> and selecting \u201cProgram Overview.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can also view <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/met\/courses\/business-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BU MET Administrative Sciences<\/a> course descriptions, which have indicators if they are available in an upcoming semester. When considering taking a course, look at 500-level courses or above. Anything below a 500-level is considered an undergraduate course and will not count toward your degree. Also, please be aware of prerequisites.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I don\u2019t know how to register for my next course.<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nPlease refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/met\/admissions\/course-registration\/step-by-step-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Step-By-Step Guide to Registration<\/a>. It includes a video tutorial on how to register for classes from the Dashboard of the MyBU Student Portal.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">The course I want isn\u2019t available.<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nPlease reach out directly to your academic advisor for guidance on what course to take next, and\/or to find out how soon your desired course will be available again.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I want to change course sections but there is no room in the section I want.<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nFor an on-campus class, if the class is at the room capacity, this means there are no more seats. You will have to wait for someone to have dropped the course, until the Add-Drop Deadline. The seat capacity cannot be bypassed by a staff member.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I don\u2019t know what to choose for an elective.<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nThe definition of an elective course is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Any graduate level course (course number begins with a 6, 7, or 8, and selected courses beginning with a 5)<\/li>\n<li>Offered by the Administrative Sciences Department (course prefix is AD) or any other department within Metropolitan College<\/li>\n<li>And all prerequisite courses and\/or laboratories have been successfully completed<\/li>\n<li>A student may petition the Administrative Sciences Department\u2019s Academic Policy and Standards Committee to be allowed to register for a graduate-level course in another school or college within Boston University. However, the Committee\u2019s approval does not guarantee that the student will be allowed to register for the desired course. The final decision about registering for the desired course lies with the other school or college within Boston University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<h2>CPT<\/h2>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Can I do CPT (Curriculum Practical Training)?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nInternational students can do CPT, after completing two full-time on-campus semesters. First, we review your record to confirm your eligibility for CPT. Then, we will email you the form that is to be filled out by you and your full-time faculty supervisor. Below is what is needed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have a job offer from a company and the offer letter on their letterhead. In the letter it must have:\n<ul>\n<li>Name and address of the company<\/li>\n<li>Description of your job and responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Start and end dates<\/li>\n<li>Whether it is paid or unpaid<\/li>\n<li>Whether it is full-time or part-time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ask your faculty advisor or a full-time faculty member that you have had a course with to see if they would supervise you during your CPT<\/li>\n<li>Fill out all the appropriate forms having your faculty supervisor sign the form<\/li>\n<li>Email everything to your on-campus academic advisor<\/li>\n<li>We will then register you for the CPT: 1 credit if part-time, 2 credits if full-time<\/li>\n<li>Once everything is done, you can go onto your ISSO portal to upload the information they need<\/li>\n<li>Our office will then receive a form to approve your CPT<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<h2>Deadlines<\/h2>\n<p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I want to register for class, but the deadline passed. Can you add me to the class?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nUnfortunately, we cannot register students for a class after the registration deadline has passed. Students will have to wait until the next semester or online session.<br \/>\nFor online classes, the registration deadline is more strict; online classes are accelerated versions of on-campus courses. Online Course Registration Drop and Withdraw deadlines can be found of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/met\/admissions\/academic-calendars\/online-calendar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BU MET Online Course Calendar<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I want\/need to drop my course, but I don\u2019t know how.<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nTo drop a course:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to the Dashboard of the MyBU Student Portal and click \u201cEnrollment\u201d on the left side<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cDrop Classes\u201d<\/li>\n<li>On the right side of the course that you want to drop, click on the text box until a check mark appears<\/li>\n<li>Click the red \u201cDrop\u201d button on the right side of the screen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you get a pop-up window with a message preventing you from dropping the course, check your compliance page and make sure you have met all compliance requirements. If this issue persists, contact your academic advisor.<br \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I want to drop\/withdraw but there is a compliance issue. How can I remove this?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nYou will need to resolve your compliance issue on your own. You can find them either on the front dashboard of your MyBU Student Portal, or by clicking \u201cTo Do\u201d and then \u201cHolds\u201d from the red navigation pane on the left.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">If I drop my course(s), will I get a refund?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nThe schedule for withdrawal tuition refunds can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/studentfinancials\/resources\/withdrawal-and-tuition-refund-schedule\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tuition Withdrawal Refund Schedule web page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Online classes have one Drop Deadline per online course; there is no tuition refund afterward and can only be a Withdrawal. Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/met\/admissions\/academic-calendars\/online-calendar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MET Online Calendar<\/a> for online course drop and withdraw deadlines.<\/p>\n<p>On-campus summer classes follow a different course calendar. Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/summer\/summer-sessions\/calendar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Summer Term calendar for drop and withdraw dates<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What is the difference between a Drop and a Withdraw?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nDropping a course by the drop deadline means the course is entirely removed from our transcript, and the tuition charges are either dropped or refunded to you. A Withdraw becomes available after the Drop deadline; a W appears on your transcript, and you must pay the tuition for the course.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I dropped my course(s) but I don\u2019t see a refund.<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nDue to privacy laws, our academic office does not have access to students\u2019 financial records. Please contact BU Student Financials directly at <a href=\"mailto:studenta@bu.edu\">studenta@bu.edu<\/a> or 617-353-2264.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I dropped my class, but I still see it on my Blackboard.<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nDropping a course on the MyBU Student Portal should be automatic, but you may need to wait one business day for Blackboard to update. You may inform your instructor directly that you dropped the course and\/or contact BU IS&amp;T at <a href=\"mailto:ithelp@bu.edu\">ithelp@bu.edu<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Grades<\/h2>\n<p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I got a (any grade below a B-). What happens now?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nA course with a grade of C+ or below must be retaken. The grade of a retaken course must be B+ or better for it to be credited toward graduation requirements. Please note that while grades of B or B- are considered passing, these grades will not assist in raising an unsatisfactory GPA to a satisfactory level.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I just re-took course in which I received a failing grade. What will my GPA be?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nThe second attempt at your failing grade (if it is a higher grade) will be evaluated by the Academic Department. If the second attempt of the grade is higher, and it restores your GPA to a 3.0 or above, then your academic status will be in Good Standing<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I earned a failing grade, but my GPA is still above a 3.0. Am I still on probation?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nYou are not on probation, but you will still need to retake the failed course and earn a passing grade of B- or higher.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Graduation<\/h2>\n<p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I submitted a graduation\/diploma application some time ago. When will my status be updated?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nOnce a student submits their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/met\/current-students\/graduation\/apply-to-graduate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">application to graduate<\/a>, and they are registered in their final courses in their last semester, their status should be updated within 2-3 business days.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How do I apply for graduation?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nTo apply for graduation, you must fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/met\/current-students\/graduation\/apply-to-graduate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">application to graduate form<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Where will the graduation ceremonies be held?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nWe have 3 graduation dates in January, May and August. We hold only one ceremony in May, and all are welcome to attend. There is no limit to who can attend the ceremony in May. Once we are getting close to the May ceremony you will receive an email with all the instructions and information required for you to participate in the ceremony.
