Master Lecturer Richard Maltzman Chats ‘Meeting Goblins’ on ‘Project Management Happy Hour’ Podcast

Richard Maltzman, BU Metropolitan College master lecturer and certified Project Management Professional, was recently a guest on the Project Management Happy Hour podcast, hosted by Raidlog CEO Kim Essendurp.

During the show, Maltzman and Essendurp focused their discussion on “meeting goblins,” a concept from Maltzman’s coauthored book, Great Meetings Build Great Teams. As Maltzman explains, “Meeting goblins are personas that pop out from everyday people in your project (or actually any) meetings—personas that can detract from your meeting.”

Facilitators like project managers, the Project Communications and Leadership (MET AD 643) instructor adds, have a responsibility to wrangle and squelch these distractions. It’s the sort of lessons BU MET MS in Project Management students learn well in pursuit of their degree.

In addition to being a recent guest on the MET Makes Conversation podcast, Maltzman hosts a program of his own, B’yond Project Management.
