The Lowy Specialization in Aging Practice, Policy &amp; Social Justice applies principles of social justice to analyze conditions that impact the lives of older adults and examines the role of power, privilege, and structural inequality in producing health disparities across the life course. Social workers play a vital role in working with individuals, families, and organizations, as well as local, state, and national communities to optimize opportunities for the health, economic well-being, and quality of life of older adults.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Requirements for CRC Students<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 advanced practicum placement in aging<\/li>\n<li>3 required courses:\n<ul>\n<li>SSW CP 807 Older Adults (can be taken in-person or online)<\/li>\n<li>SSW HB 756 The Aging Experience: Theoretical Perspectives and Contemporary Issues<\/li>\n<li>SSW WP 704 Social Policies and Programs on Aging<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students may choose other electives in Human Behavior or Policy with approval from the coordinator. Assignments must relate to older adults.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Requirements for Hybrid and Online Students<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 advanced practicum placement in aging<\/li>\n<li>SSW CP 807 Clinical Practice with Older Adults<\/li>\n<li>2 electives from the following options:\n<ul>\n<li>SSW WP 705 Mental Health Policy or SSW WP 720 Family Policy (assignments must relate to older adults)<\/li>\n<li>SSW HB 723 Assessment and Diagnosis with Adults or SSW HB 751 Human Neuropsychology (assignments must relate to older adults)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>Students may choose other electives in Human Behavior or Policy with approval from the coordinator.
