The mathematics &amp; computer science BA-to-MS program, typically completed in four and a half to five years, is designed for highly qualified students. Students will learn to analyze problems that require computation and design and implement appropriate problem solutions that are efficient and effective. Students will possess a broad mastery of in-depth knowledge of computer science across theory, software, systems, and applications.<\/p>\n<p>Students in this bachelor\u2019s-to-master\u2019s program must complete all bachelor\u2019s degree requirements before enrolling as master\u2019s students, although they may take graduate courses while enrolled as undergraduates. Students must register for and earn a minimum of 24 units while enrolled as master\u2019s students. Students may apply up to 8 units (500 level or above) from the undergraduate degree to the master\u2019s degree, subject to any conditions described below. For this bachelor\u2019s-to-master\u2019s program, the bachelor\u2019s degree is conferred by the College of Arts &amp; Sciences and the master\u2019s degree is conferred by the Graduate School of Arts &amp; Sciences. Students should consult with the Financial Assistance office to learn how entrance into this bachelor\u2019s-to-master\u2019s program might impact their financial aid.<\/p>\n<h2>Learning Outcomes<\/h2>\n<p>From their BA in Mathematics &amp; Computer Science, students will have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In-depth knowledge in the mathematical foundations.<\/li>\n<li>Programming and software engineering skills.<\/li>\n<li>Combined theoretical and technical skills to use on real-world applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students completing the MS in Computer Science will possess a broad mastery of in-depth knowledge of computer science across theory, software, systems, and applications.<\/p>\n<h2>Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Students must complete all requirements for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/academics\/cas\/programs\/mathematics-statistics\/ba-mathematics-computer-science\">BA in Mathematics &amp; Computer Science<\/a> and all requirements for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/academics\/grs\/programs\/computer-science\/ms\/\">MS in Computer Science<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Students may apply up to 8 units from the undergraduate degree toward the MS.
