The minor is designed to ensure a level of expertise that allows the student to be knowledgeable and conversant in chemistry fundamentals.<\/p>\n<p><em>All students should refer to the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/academics\/cas\/departments\/chemistry\/\"><em>Departmental Regulations<\/em><\/a><em> section of the Chemistry Department page for important stipulations. NOTE: Students may not switch tracks in general or organic chemistry after the initial course in the sequence.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Requirements<\/h3>\n<p>The minor consists of a minimum of five 4-unit courses. All required chemistry courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>General Chemistry with Quantitative Analysis (CAS CH 109, 112 or CH 101, 102, 201 or CH 109, 110 or CH 101, 116, 201 or CH 111, 112)<\/li>\n<li>Organic Chemistry with Qualitative Analysis (CAS CH 211, 212 or CH 203, 214 or CH 203, 204, 220)<\/li>\n<li>One advanced 4-unit course in chemistry (CAS CH 232, BB 421 or any CH 300-level or higher course); CH 373 and research-based courses (such as CH 361 or 461) excluded; students in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/academics\/busm\/programs\/modular-medical-integrated-curriculum\/\">Modular Medical Integrated Curriculum (MMEDIC)<\/a> program may substitute their GMS biochemistry course and BB 527 for this advanced course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A student wishing to minor in Chemistry may use no more than two courses from their major to fulfill the requirements of the minor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The minor in Chemistry teaches the basics of general and organic chemistry, as well as one other area in chemistry of the student\u2019s choice.
