By completing eight courses, the holders of the CPCU credential can gain advanced management knowledge and an MS degree in Insurance Management. Students also have the option of choosing one of the following concentrations: 1) Applied Business Analytics, 2) Corporate Finance, 3) Project, Program &amp; Portfolio Management, or 4) Supply Chain Management.<\/p>\n<p>Students who complete the MS degree in Insurance Management will be able to demonstrate enhanced management knowledge and expertise in the insurance industry, with the addition of a focused business core that addresses the managerial aspects and personal skills needed to be a leader in the field. A business background is necessary to complement insurance industry knowledge and to provide a strategic focus on how the insurance industry affects, and is affected by, management decisions, global issues, and technical innovations.<\/p>\n<p>This program requires an average of 16\u201324 months to complete. Students may begin the program in the fall, spring, or summer term.<\/p>\n<h2>Learning Outcomes<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The ability to integrate insurance management decisions into overarching corporate business strategies.<\/li>\n<li>The ability to evaluate the impact of digital transformation and automation on insurance processes.<\/li>\n<li>The ability to analyze the balance between data management practices and customer privacy concerns.<\/li>\n<li>The ability to develop flexible business models designed to personalize policy offerings and pricing structures.<\/li>\n<li>The ability to apply principles of risk avoidance to shape customer behavior. Boston University recognizes the CPCU as the equivalent of four graduate-level courses.<\/p>\n<p>All students must demonstrate proficiency in mathematical skills by completing the online ALEKS math tutorial.<\/p>\n<h2>Degree Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Students have the option to choose a concentration in Applied Business Analytics; The thesis must be completed within 12 months and is available to master\u2019s candidates who have completed at least five courses toward their degree and have a GPA of 3.7 or higher. Students are responsible for finding a thesis advisor and a principal reader within the department. The advisor must be a full-time faculty member; the principal reader may be a part-time faculty member with a doctorate.
