Students must complete an application that will propose 10 upper-level courses selected from various Metropolitan College departments and programs that relate to their proposed topic. The application must include a statement of rationale for the topic and be sponsored by a member of the faculty. The application must then be reviewed and approved by the associate dean. The faculty sponsor and associate dean must also approve subsequent course substitutions.<\/p>\n<h2>Learning Outcomes<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">A broad understanding of the liberal arts (that may be considered complete in itself or as suitable preparation for graduate studies), along with college-level rhetorical acumen through exposure to the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, including mathematics and computer science.<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">Critical-thinking skills via analysis and synthesis of interdisciplinary material studied in the classical and contemporary liberal arts.<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">Preparedness for active citizenship by means of a strong foundation in the liberal arts and an understanding of the connectedness of knowledge and learning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Admissions Information<\/h2>\n<p>For current admissions information, please visit the Metropolitan College <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/met\/admissions\" data-gc-link=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/met\/admissions\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Degree Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Candidates for the bachelor\u2019s degree at Metropolitan College are required to complete a minimum of 32 courses (128 units), including Hub requirements, major requirements, related courses, and electives.<\/p>\n<p>This program is intended for transfer students. Students must transfer a minimum of 24 units toward the minimum degree unit requirement. A maximum of 80 units may be transferred in. Refer to <span>the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/academics\/policies\/transfer-of-undergraduate-credits\/\">BU Residency Requirement and Transfer of Undergraduate Units<\/a> policy for more information<\/span><span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>All BU undergraduate students, including transfer students, will pursue coursework in the BU Hub, the University&#8217;s general education program that is integrated into the entire undergraduate experience. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hub\/advising-and-the-hub\/hub-requirements-for-students\/hub-requirements-for-transfer-students\" data-gc-link=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hub\/advising-and-the-hub\/hub-requirements-for-students\/hub-requirements-for-transfer-students\">BU Hub <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hub\/advising-and-the-hub\/hub-requirements-for-students\/hub-requirements-for-transfer-students\/\" data-gc-link=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hub\/advising-and-the-hub\/hub-requirements-for-students\/hub-requirements-for-transfer-students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">requirements<\/a> can be satisfied in a number of ways, including coursework in and beyond the major as well as through cocurricular activities.<\/p>\n<h3>Major Requirements<\/h3>\n<p>A total of 10 courses (40 units), completed with a grade of C or higher, is required. A minimum of six courses (24 units) must be 300 level or higher. Courses are chosen with the advice and approval of an academic advisor.<\/p>\n<h3>General Electives<\/h3>\n<p><strong>(22 courses\/88 units)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Electives are chosen with the advice of an academic advisor.
