Credit by Examination

Metropolitan College Policy

Metropolitan College recognizes specific subject examinations offered by two national standardized testing programs: College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) and Dantes Subject Standardized Tests (DSST). Both examination programs are approved by the American Council on Education and provide students with the opportunity to obtain college credit by examination.

Students are allowed to receive up to two years of undergraduate academic credit by examination for knowledge obtained outside the classroom. These standardized exams are offered and recognized nationally by many colleges and universities. In order to receive credit, a student should first consult with an academic counselor and request specific exams be considered for prior approval.

A limited number of waiver examinations are offered in computer sciences for undergraduate degree candidates with specific knowledge in a particular area.

Students should contact Metropolitan College Admissions at 617-353-6000 for more information and a listing of the examinations acceptable for credit.
