Graduate Certificate in Graphic Design

Boston University’s Graduate Certificate in Graphic Design program offers students a one-year, full-time intensive study in graphic design. The program includes core graphic design studios and typography requirements and allows students to choose elective courses based on their specific interests and career goals. For students with little prior coursework in graphic design, this certificate program prepares them for further study or enhanced professional opportunity.

Students in the Graduate Certificate in Graphic Design program receive individual work areas in spacious open communal studios. The Graphic Design space also includes printing facilities, a seminar room, and two large classrooms with LCD projectors and critique walls. The space connects directly to studios and facilities in printmaking and book arts.

After one year of study, students receive a Graduate Certificate. Alternately, upon positive faculty review, students have the option of transferring to the Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design program and completing the MFA degree program in the next academic year.

The College of Fine Arts policy on Academic Standing for Graduate Students applies to the Graduate Certificate in Graphic Design program. All students in the program must maintain a 3.0 GPA and receive grades no lower than B– to remain in good academic standing.
