Courses are offered in areas including anthropology, archaeology, art history, cinema, economics, law, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology and Spanish culture, language, literature, and history. Students also enroll in an advanced-level seminar on contemporary Spain with other program participants.\u00a0In addition, students participate in term-long tutorials that assist them with their university coursework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Required Course<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students take the following required course:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container course hub\" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\" style=\"overflow: hidden;\">\n<h6 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\" role=\"button\" style=\"cursor: pointer;\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"course-code\">CAS PO 249<\/span><br><span class=\"course-title\">Contemporary Spain: Political and Social Movements in the 21st Century<\/span><\/h6>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">\n<p>The course examines the Spanish Political System and takes a comparative approach while also focusing on current political reality and its influence on the daily life of Spaniards and vice versa. The course will look at Spanish political institutions in the context of Spain\u2019s membership in the European Union and will also examine social movements and current challenges: unemployment, public policies, migration, historical memory, etc.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Units:<\/strong> 4<\/li>\n<li class=\"hub-course\"><strong>BU Hub areas:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Critical Thinking<\/li>\n<li>Global Citizenship and Intercultural Literacy<\/li>\n<li>Writing-Intensive Course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2>Elective Courses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At the UAM, students enroll in three elective courses.
