Boston University students have the opportunity to study for a fall or spring term at Ashoka University, a liberal arts university located in Sonepat in the state of Haryana, situated just north of New Delhi. Students participating in the Ashoka University Exchange can select from a broad range of courses offered at Ashoka allowing students from a variety of majors at BU the opportunity to study in India. During their time in Sonepat, students live in the Ashoka University on-campus residence halls.

Curriculum
Students participating in the Ashoka University Exchange program are able to select courses from the following departments: Anthropology, Bio Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Creative Writing, Economics, English, Environmental Studies, History, International Relations, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Visual Arts.
Students must take 4 courses (worth 4 credits each). There is also an option to take 1 optional co-curricular course in performing arts, visual arts, or languages.
Students are advised to review Ashoka University’s website for course listings and descriptions. Terms are “monsoon” (fall) semester and spring semester.
Housing & Student Services
Program Residences
- Students will live in a shared dorm room for 2 students.
- Rooms include a bed for each student along with basic furnishings.
- A meal plan is required, with 4 meals a day.
- Laundry and fitness facilities on site.
- Common lounge with television, reading areas, and board games
- Students should plan to bring or acquire onsite any additional bath towels.
- All residences are equipped with central A/C.

This program is not on a rolling admissions cycle. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all required materials have been received by the BU Study Abroad office by the application deadline. Decisions will not be made until after the application deadline. Applicants will receive their decision via email.
