Summary of PC and Macintosh Software Compliance
This document contains a list of operating systems and application programs commonly found on University PC and Macintosh personal computers. The Boston University Year 2000 Task Force recommends that you read through the list and identify software that is installed on your computer. For any software that is non-compliant or has compliance issues, consider whether or not that software is important enough to you (e.g. to your job or your department) to upgrade it. If so, visit the manufacturer's Web site and download the recommended update.
To the degree possible, version numbers have been included for all software appearing in the table below. If you don't find information about a particular version, we recommend that you visit the software manufacturer's Web site and conduct a compliance investigation specific to your needs.
Note that Web pages frequently move around within Web sites. For this reason, we typically indicate only high-level links to manufacturer's Y2K information. In some cases, a "last known location of update" is noted. For many other sites, it may be necessary to follow links from noted top-level in order to find the product information or updates that you seek.
In the case of Microsoft products, Microsoft offers a free quarterly "Year 2000 Resource CD," available by calling 1-888-MSFT-Y2K (1-888-673-8925). For some users, this may be preferable to downloading patches from the Web. Note, however, that some CD patches may not be as recent as those on the Microsoft Web site.

Upgrade Required to Service Pack 4 or Service Pack 5, (with updates).
Microsoft offers a procedure to determine which upgrade path is preferable, depending upon the configuration of your base system. We recommend that you follow this procedure before installing any patches. They strongly recommend that four-digit years be used for all data entry.

Current releases of Lotus SmartSuite millennium edition 9.5 are Year 2000 Ready*.
Most versions of SmartSuite for Windows since release 3.1 are Year 2000 Ready*,
in accordance with Lotus and IBM Year 2000 readiness guidelines.
Year 2000 Ready* means that service is required for the product to be considered Year 2000 Ready. Customers may need to take action such as the application of a service fix or the installation of the latest release of a product in order for the system to operate in accordance with the Year 2000 ready definition. Prior releases of SmartSuite, as well as some International releases, are not Year 2000 ready.
