Somy Kim’s writing seminars combine her research interests in visual culture and cinema from the Arab World and Iran with her interests in writing and language pedagogy. Dr. Kim has traveled and worked in Iran, Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, and Egypt. As a result of her training in comparative literature, she has taught in a variety of capacities as a language instructor of English, Persian, and Arabic, along with having taught literature and writing to American and international undergraduate students. Her work has been recognized by institutions such as the Hutchison Endowment, the U.S. Department of Education, the American Institute for Iranian Studies, and the Fulbright Foundation.
