Submission Form

Eligible Courses: WR 097, WR 098, WR 100, WR 150. WR 202, and WR 415. WR 100 equivalent courses and WR 150 equivalent courses are also eligible.
Issue 10 Deadlines: The deadline for papers from Summer and Fall 2017 is December 19, 2017. The deadline for papers from Spring 2018 and for the Cover Design contest is May 9, 2018.

How to Submit

If you are a student

1. Review the Submission FAQs.
2. Select an essay to submit. You may submit one paper each semester (a total of two per issue)
3. Put your BU ID number on your essay and delete all other identifying information (name, instructor name, semester, date, assignment, teacher’s comments). Please do not delete the title of the paper.
4. Include citations (in-text or notes) as appropriate to the style you are using. You must also include a complete Works Cited or Bibliography section.  Essays without proper citation will not be considered for publication.
5. Save your essay as a Microsoft Word file. Make the file name your BU ID number.
6. Complete the WR Submission Form below and click Submit Form.

If you are an instructor

1. Ask the student for permission to submit his or her essay to the journal. You may submit up to three papers each semester (a total of 6 per issue).
2. Put the student’s BU ID number on the essay and delete all other identifying information (name, instructor name, semester, date, assignment, teacher’s comments). Please do not delete the title of the paper.
3. Save the  essay as a Microsoft Word file. Make the file name the student’s BU ID number.
4. Complete the WR Submission Form below and click Submit Form.

  • Student Information

  • Format: U########
  • Students can submit 1 paper per semester. Instructors can submit up to 3 papers per semester.
  • Class Information

  • If the course is not listed, the essay is not eligible for publication.
  • Paper information

  • Titles should reflect the essay's content. If the title is a generic title (ex. Paper Two Essay), please rename it to be more descriptive.
  • If the paper is not a standard academic essay, upload the assignment sheet below. Here are some examples of "other genre": a theater review, your creative writing and analysis of that writing, a personal essay, a magazine article, or a public intellectual essay.
  • Accepted file types: doc, docx.
    Upload the essay as a Word document and use your BU ID number as the file name. Remove all identifying information (except for BU ID # and paper title).
  • Accepted file types: doc, docx.
    This is required for "Other Genre" papers. Please rename your file to your ID # and Assignment (ex. U12345678 Assignment). Please do not submit an assignment sheet for traditional essays.
