Eligible Courses: All CAS WR courses are eligible. KHC Studio courses are also eligible.

Issue 11 Deadlines: The deadline to submit fall papers is 12/21.

How to Submit

If you are a student

1. Submissions are by instructor nomination only. If you did not receive an email from your writing instructor encouraging you to submit a paper to the journal, please do not submit anything. If you did, follow the steps below.
2. Review the Submission FAQs.
3. Select an essay to submit. You may submit one paper each semester (a total of two per issue)
4. Put your BU ID number on your essay and delete all other identifying information (name, instructor name, semester, date, assignment, teacher’s comments). Please do not delete the title of the paper.
5. Include citations (in-text or notes) as appropriate to the style you are using. You must also include a complete Works Cited or Bibliography section.  Essays without proper citation will not be considered for publication.
6. Save your essay as a Microsoft Word file. Make the file name your BU ID number.
7. Complete the WR Submission Form below and click Submit Form.

If you are an instructor

1. Ask the student for permission to submit his or her essay to the journal. You may submit only 1 paper each semester.
2. Put the student’s BU ID number on the essay and delete all other identifying information (name, instructor name, semester, date, assignment, teacher’s comments). Please do not delete the title of the paper.
3. Save the  essay as a Microsoft Word file. Make the file name the student’s BU ID number.
4. Complete the WR Submission Form below and click Submit Form.

  • If the course is not listed, the essay is not eligible for publication.
  • Paper information

  • Titles should reflect the essay's content. If the title is a generic title (ex. Paper Two Essay), please rename it to be more descriptive.
  • If the paper is not a standard academic essay, upload the assignment sheet below. An genre non-academic argument might be a public intellectual essay, op-ed, policy document, podcast script, or narrative nonfiction. An other genre creative work might be fiction, poetry, plays, memoirs, or comics.
  • Accepted file types: doc, docx, pdf.
    Upload the essay (Word document preferred) and use your BU ID number as the file name. Remove all identifying information (except for BU ID # and paper title). If you are submitting a creative work, please paste any accompanying analysis into the same essay file.
  • Accepted file types: doc, docx.
    This is required for "Other Genre" papers. Please rename your file to your ID # and Assignment (ex. U12345678 Assignment). Please do not submit an assignment sheet for traditional essays.
