PROGRAM HEADLINES

11/20/2007: Anastasia Kolendo's story "Wintering" has been selected to appear in Best New American Voices, 2009.

9/17/2007: Alessandra Gelmi (MA '99) new novel Who's Afraid of Red has been released by Publish America. The novel, set against the Rwandan Genocide is salient in light of the present crisis in Darfur. Joel Siegel of Good Morning America calls Who's Afraid of Red "Brilliant," and Theodore Simburudali, president of Ibuka, an umbrella body that groups genocide survivors calls the book "Bold." 8//14/2007: Catherine Tudish's new novel American Cream has just been published. Writes Howard Frank Mosher, author of On Kingdom Mountain and Disappeareneces, "In the tradition of Wallace Stegner, Thornton Wilder, and Kent Haruf, Catherine Tudish explores small-town and rural life in America with clear-eyed honesty, loving care, and great wisdom. American Cream is the story of Virginia Rownd, a remarkable woman who, in midlife, returns to her hometown in western Pennsylvania. Virginia discovers, as we all must, that 'one person can't live two lives.' Written with quiet elegance, American Cream is a masterful novel, alive with fine characters, surprising scenes, and insightful observations that come only with deep life experience and deep compassion for one's fellow men and women."

9/28/2006: Robert O. Greer's latest C.J. Floyd Mystery, The Fourth Perspective was released today by North Atlantic Books. There will be a reception for Mr. Greer at the Barnes and Noble at BU, followed by a reading, on October 25th.

9/13/2007: Peter Ho Davies' first novel, The Welsh Girl is due out in February of 2007. For more information about the author tour, please visit Houghton Miflin.com.

8/20/2006: David Kirby writes in the New York Times Sunday Book Review of Maggie Dietz's new collection of poems, Perennial Fall, “[H]er lippy candor is invigorating in a wish-I’d-thought-of-that way, and it’s a pleasure to be led through her world as she looks at familiar subjects with fresh eyes.” Read the full review at nytimes.com.

7/28/2006: Robin Becker has published a new collection of poems, Domain of Perfect Affection. Publishers Weekly writes of Becker, "Describing her path from a radical youth to middleage, Becker's verse remains careful and clear, much like Philip Levine's in its sense of how poems ought to work (and Becker is at least as good a technician)."

10/5/05: Rishi Reddi's story, "Justice Shiva Ram Murthy," has been selected for Best American Short Stories, 2005. Her collection, Karma and other Stories, is due out in the spring of 2007. Vivek Naryanan's "My Father the Perfect Man" was listed as an honorable mention in the same issue of Best American.
