Third Year Chinese Students Explored Yin Yu Tang House

Yin Yu Tang House is a late 18th-century Chinese house that had been removed from its original village in China and rebuilt in the Peabody Essex museum in Salem, Massachusetts. It is a tangible example of the scale of social and economic changes in China since the 18th century, and how it has affected the daily life and culture of Chinese society.

On Oct. 20th, third-year Chinese students explored Ying Yu Tang House.  The experience of visiting it added depth to the students’ perspective and helped them learn in a very hands-on way about Chinese art, architecture, and culture while also taking a fun trip outside the classroom. Instructor Hongyun Sun guided this event.

The trip is funded by BU Arts Integration Grant and Academic Enhancement Fund.
