Associate Director of Field Education
Paul Akoury provides leadership and strategic thinking in all areas relative to field education. Paul collaborates with faculty and staff to enhance field operations; to define standards and processes for field partnerships; and to streamline resources for student engagement and success in all phases of their field experiences. Paul is part of the team in Professional Preparation that is helping to centralize services pertaining to licensure and accreditation as well as program assessment and improvement.
Paul’s interests and background integrate arts, psychology, and philosophy into authentic educational practice. Paul’s previous work experiences include classroom teaching, research and program development, and public policy. Prior to Boston University, Paul directed the field office at Wheelock College. Paul holds a B.A. in Psychology from Stonehill College; Master’s degrees from Boston College in Curriculum and Instruction and from Harvard Graduate School of Education in Arts in Education; and a Ph.D. from Boston College in Curriculum and Instruction. Paul’s greatest joy is spending time with his wife and two children.
