Welcome to Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development

In 1995, as a newly minted PhD, I launched the next phase of my career at Boston University with a wonderful group of colleagues who supported my teaching and research. It was my great honor to return to BU in 2018 after the merger with Wheelock College that established the BU Wheelock you see today.

Today, as it was then, this incredible community of scholars and researchers is deeply committed to finding answers to complex problems and to taking bold action to dismantle barriers and make opportunity equitable for all. If you are as passionate about these challenges as we are, I’m certain you will find a home here as well.

As our world evolves at a breathtaking pace, the demand grows for knowledgeable, skilled education and human development professionals that are ready to take the lead in addressing critical challenges. The legacy of the roots of our college—both the BU School of Education and Wheelock College—continue to inspire us and fuel our growth as we teach, study, and serve to support the positive development of young people, their families, and communities across Boston, the region, and the world.

The BU Wheelock community is united in the common goal of ensuring that our students, faculty, and alumni have the resources and skills they need to succeed. Please take some time to browse our website and gain a deeper understanding of our programs, partners, and mission as a college. We hope you will join us in the important work we have taken on—now and in the years to come!

Respectfully,

David J. Chard, PhD
