Associate or Full Professor of Mathematics Education

Mathematics Education Program

The Wheelock College of Education & Human Development at Boston University invites applications for a full-time Associate or Full Professor (with Tenure) of Mathematics Education. We are seeking a faculty member who shares BU Wheelock’s commitment to both the advancement of research and the preparation of educators in mathematics.

We seek an individual who has an established research program and a history of obtaining external funding in mathematics education and related fields. We seek candidates whose work combine rigorous quantitative or mixed methods approaches with strong theoretical frameworks and whose research influences the national dialogue on effective mathematics education practices and/or policies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide leadership on the research and training agenda of the program, as well as serve as a mentor for doctoral students and junior faculty in the broader Department/College. Mathematics Education program members teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses, advise students, and provide service to the university and profession.

This Associate or Full Professor position begins July 1, 2019. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Mathematics Education or related field.
  • A well-established record of published research and grant funding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching mathematics in K-12.
  • Record of cross-disciplinary research and training (e.g., STEM, ELL, SPED, Educational Policy and Leadership, Educational Psychology).

Clinical Assistant Professor of English Education

English Education Program

Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education & Human Development invites applications for the position of a full-time, Clinical Assistant Professor of English Education.

The English Education program prepares middle and high school educators to teach for equity and to effectively serve economically, culturally, and linguistically diverse students. We are seeking a faculty member to teach undergraduate and graduate methods courses in Secondary English Education; advise undergraduate and master’s level students; work with existing and new secondary school partners to arrange and manage student-teaching placements; provide field-based supervision for student-teachers within the program; engage with and contribute to the English Education scholarly community; and take on a leadership role within the English Education program.

The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate in English Education, Adolescent Literacy or a related field; demonstrate excellence in teaching and advising at the university level; and be enthusiastic about engaging in instructional supervision with pre-service and in-service educators. Preference for candidates who also possess three or more years of teaching experience in grades 6-12 (preferably in an urban public school context).

This position begins July 1, 2019. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
