Take Advantage of DASH for Health

During this current pandemic, many parts of your day may feel uncertain and out of your control.  And while you may not be able to anticipate these ever-evolving changes, there are still many ways you can take control of your overall health and well-being through small and manageable changes.

If you haven’t already, we encourage you to consider signing up for the free DASH for Health program.  The DASH for Health program has been helping BU employees exercise, lose weight and improve their health for over 10 years.  With DASH for Health we can all stay apart but improve our health together.

About the DASH Diet

  • The DASH Diet has some of the strongest clinical evidence for its effects on many disease conditions such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes mellitus
  • The DASH diet has been proven to
    • lower blood pressure
    • lower cholesterol
    • help control diabetes
    • help people lose weight
    • help prevent certain types of cancers
  • It is a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy foods
  • It is lower in sweets and fats as compared to a typical American diet
  • It can be followed by both meat-eaters and vegetarians

  • The DASH program sends an online article twice each week full of recipes, meal ideas, shopping tips, meal plans and more
  • The companion app will help you record your food intake and keep you on track
  • All nutrition advice is based on the DASH diet
  • The DASH team of doctors, dietitians, and exercise experts are available to answer all of your questions along the way
