Description

WebCT and CourseInfo help faculty build, conduct, and manage courses on the Web. These products are used at over 1,000 universities worldwide. WebCT and CourseInfo contain features such as automatically-graded quizzes, student tracking, online announcement boards, chat, whiteboards, course calendars, and much more.

Both products are available to all Boston University faculty on the Charles River and Medical Campuses. (Note: SMG and the Medical Campus have selected CourseInfo for use by their faculty.)

In this class, we will provide a general introduction to course software and we will give you a general overview of WebCT and CourseInfo. Additionally, we will give an indepth comparison of the features that each product offers.

Benefits

After completing this class, you will be able to:
  1. Evaluate the usefulness of course software.
  2. Determine which features are important to you.
  3. Determine which product best suits your needs.
  4. Request space for your course in the products.
  5. Upload your roster to the products.

Prerequisites

Experience with a Web browser, such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer. A BU login name and Kerberos password. HTML Basics or equivalent experience would be helpful.
