Prometheus

Title Created by Duties/Privileges
Instructor System Admin Full access to modify the course, including:
  • adding and deleting course content
  • creating assessment tools
  • changing grades
Teaching Assistant System Admin

Same as Instructor (default). Instructor can grant or remove individual TAs' access to the following site areas:

  • syllabus
  • outline
  • testing
  • grade book
  • projects
  • files
  • message
  • discussions
  • chat
  • utilities
Student System Admin Access to view but not modify course content (default). Instructor can grant or remove individual students' access to the same areas as TAs.
Shadow (guest) System Admin Access to view but not modify course content. Shadow users are not visible to users other than the instructor. They can view discussions but cannot use other communication features.

Notes

In all three products, each user has a single account. This account can have different roles in different courses. For example, in one course the account might have TA privileges. In another, it might have only Student privileges. In another, it might have no access at all.

Prometheus offers the most flexibility in defining user access. Instructors can assign or remove individual TAs' and students' access to edit any section of the course site.
