Introduction to Contribute

Macromedia has released a new product for Web development teams: Macromedia Contribute. This software program (now available for Windows with expected availability for the Mac OS in Spring 2003*) is designed, from the outset, to allow non-technically-oriented people to edit, revise, and update Web content.

Site administrators can now delegate content maintenance to the actual content owners, streamlining the updating process. Sites stay more relevant and current, and content providers no longer have to wait for and/or rely on the site administrator to upload new or revised content.

* Since Contribute is tightly integrated with a web browser and browser integration is more difficult on the Macintosh, Macromedia has released the Windows version and is working with Opera Software to integrate the new-generation Opera browser into the Mac OS version of Contribute.
