A cookie is a small piece of information that your browser stores on your computer when you visit certain web pages. Blackboard Vista uses cookies to remember your login information as you browse through the site, so it is crucial that you allow cookies from Blackboard Vista.
JavaScript, which is different from Java, is a language used by web browsers that allows for easier browsing and more browsing features. JavaScript is automatically enabled by default in Internet Explorer and Firefox. If you need to check that cookies and JavaScript are enabled in your browser, use the instructions below.
Enable Cookies and JavaScript in your browser
Enable cookies in Mozilla Firefox 1.5 to 3.0
- Launch Firefox from your desktop or start menu.
- From the main browser menu, click "Tools".
- Click "Options", the last item in the list.

- Click the "Privacy" icon.

- For Firefox 2.0 to 3.0 users, ensure that the "Accept Cookies from Sites" check box is checked. For Firefox 3.0 users, in order to be able to use the HTML Creator feature within Blackboard Vista, ensure that the "Accept third-party cookies" check box is also checked. For Firefox 1.5 users , click the "Cookies" tab below the "Privacy" icon. Ensure that the "Allow sites to set cookies" check box is checked.

- Click OK to save your changes.
- Continue on to JavaScript.

- Click the "Content" icon.
- Ensure that "Enable JavaScript" has been checked.
- Click OK to save your changes.
- Continue to the Firewall Set Up.
