Uploading Audio and Video Files

The process for uploading audio and video files is basically the same as for any other file you may upload to the web. The key differences can be summarized as follows:

  1. Upload all audio and video content to your folder in the /av/ area. If you don't yet have an /av/ folder, you should request one.
  2. Follow the instructions for uploading to the central server (www.bu.edu).
  3. In Step 5, the directory path will be based on your /av/ folder. For example, /web/a/v/av/nis/video/examples/ would be a directory path for audio and video examples belonging to NIS.
  4. Make sure the files are completely uploaded before disconnecting your FTP program. Audio and video files are generally large and may take several minutes to transfer to the server.
  5. Once the files are uploaded, test the links to them to ensure that they're streaming correctly.
