Select Images

You can use .gif, .jpg, or .png image formats in the RealPix file. Some points to note when selecting images to be included in the presentation:

SMIL does not support transparency. If you have a .gif file with transparent regions these will display as solid color in your presentation.

SMIL allocates 12k of bandwidth for images. If your images exceed that file size by a significant amount, your visitors will experience stalls or excessive buffering when they try to view the presentation.

.png files created with Fireworks and saved in their original format (rather than "exported" to .png format) will cause your presentation to crash. This is due to the presence of meta information in the Fireworks .png format that Real server cannot accommodate.

If you are converting a PowerPoint presentation to SMIL format, you can create your .gif or .jpg files by exporting them from PowerPoint. Note: You may need to further edit the exported images to correct color and to optimize file size to 12k.
