Bandwidth Considerations

SMIL presentations are composed of multiple elements, and each of these elements requires some amount of bandwidth to be delivered to the viewer's media player.

The total bandwidth required by all the elements of a presentation that play simultaneously must not exceed the total bandwidth available to the target viewer.

Additionally, specific clips (such as images) must stay within the bandwidth boundaries established by their respective files. For example, a RealPix file might specify a bitrate of 12,000 (12k); images in the file should be approximately that size to prevent the presentation from stalling.
