Steps to Creating a Customized Search

After deciding which option (at left) for a customized search you want to employ, you should follow the steps below:

1. Create the search form. Copy the code as described in the example you selected from the options section. Modify the code according to the instructions on the appropriate Options page.
   
2. Upload the file containing your search form. If you've created a separate page for the form, we strongly recommend that you create a directory called search at the top level of your site, and put the form there. Doing so provides visitors an intuitive URL for finding the search form: www.bu.edu/yoursite/search/.
