Finding RSS Feeds

Look for RSS Buttons

If you visit a site and see an RSS button, you can subscribe to the news feed for that site. RSS buttons come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but these are some common versions:

Some sites offer RSS buttons tailored to your news aggregator. Just click the button and your aggregator will open automatically, with the news feed added:

My Yahoo RSS button  Pluck RSS button  Newsgator RSS button

Feeds on the BU Web

The BU RSS page provides a complete list of BU websites that offer news feeds.

Any department publishing on the BU Web can use the News CMS to manage its news stories. The New CMS has built-in RSS feeds for every topic of news you create.

A news feed should list the most recent news items for a website. Like a web page, each feed has a unique address or URL. For example, this is the address for WebCentral's news feeds:

http://www.bu.edu/phpbin/news-cms/rss/?dept=2&topic=2

Feeds on the World Wide Web

You can also subscribe to news feeds for many sites outside the BU Web. The number of websites offering RSS news feeds grows every day. Syndic8.com lists news feeds on a wide variety of topics. You also can search for content published with RSS feeds on search sites such as Feedster or Technorati.

The following popular news sites provide RSS feeds:
