Example Before and After Quick Links

The following example demonstrates the difference a Quick Link can make for a site's visibility and placement on a search results page.

Before

Administrators of the Asian Studies site were concerned because when a visitor searched using the term asia, the Asian Studies home page did not show up prominently in the search results.

As the screen shot below illustrates, the Asian Studies site does not appear in the top four search results. As the definitive site for information on the Asian Studies department, the Asian Studies home page should appear first.

The solution to this problem was a Quick Link with the following keywords and phrases:

asia
asian

asian studies
asian department

Now when a visitor types any of these words or phrases, the Asian Studies site appears at the top of the results page (see figure below).
