Receive Templates

You will receive an email from a New Releases Administrator at NIS, confirming the creation of your templates. These will be placed by the administrator in your "newstemplates" directory.

You will also receive a "template name" for your school or college, which you will use when telling the PHP and Perl scripts to select your design. This will be described in detail in the Learning pages describing how to embed the news in your site and how to link to the news with your design.

You should make local copies of the "newstemplates" directory and these template files. If you use Macromedia Dreamweaver, use the Site Sidebar and either "Get" or "Check Out" these files to keep a local copy on your machine for safe keeping. If these files are not present on your school or college's site, the embedded news content and links that utilize your design will fail to work, so having a backup copy is important should they become lost or damaged.

Once you have received these templates and your template name, you can proceed to either Embedding the News or Linking to the News.
