The News Release System at BU contains many features which allow you to select, serve, and display news on your website.
- Instant Updates: Articles with the system are always current. As soon as a new release is added to the database, all of the pages that link to the News Release System are able to access, sort, and display these new releases. This means that the articles you serve on your site are always up to date and you are able to serve all the releases relevant to your school, college, or organization.
- Serve any portion of News Releases: Would you like to just serve just the news published about your school or college? Perhaps you want to keep visitors abreast of new pertaining to a particular subject, like technology? Maybe you want to want to provide an index of all articles mentioning Cancer Research at BU? The News Releases System can serve the news you want to be seen on your site in two different styles, as lists of releases or embedded within the HTML of your page.
- Serve the News Releases in any design: You don't want to send your visitors over to the News & Events site to view articles about your school, you want them be able to see them in your site with your design. The News Release System allows you to use the look and feel of your school, college, or organization's webpage and take advantage of customized interfaces that allow your visitor to peruse topical news from within your site. All you have to do is keep several templates on your website and incorporate a few snippets of code in your pages that control what content you want to display and the News Release System generates customized, on-demand pages in your design.
- Embed the News Releases within your site: Not only can the News Releases System display and select the content you want with the look and feel or your site, it can also be embedded into your site, allowing for seamless integration of up-to-date news alongside other content on the same page. The design is up to you, whether you want to have a dedicated news page, a section of your homepage reserved for the news, or even a sidebar containing the most recent news entries about your school or college.
- Searchable Database: The news releases are stored within a searchable database. This means that a user can search, from the News & Events site, through hundreds of news releases, dating back to Fall of 1998. This search mechanism also allows you to create links to entire sets of releases, pertaining to particular years, categories, colleges, keywords, or even combinations of these criterion.
