Announcements & Stickies

Announcements and stickies provide a way to put important topics at the top of your forum and keep them there. All other topics are moved down the page as new topics are added since topics are displayed in reverse chronological order.

Announcement
A type of topic posted by a moderator that always appears at the top of the forum. If the forum has multiple pages, the announcement will appear on each page.
Sticky
A sticky is a topic that appears near the top of the forum, below any announcements in the forum and above normal topics. If the forum has multiple pages, sticky topics appear only on the first page.
Normal Topic
A normal topic appears in the list of topics in the lower part of the forum. Topics with recent posts are listed first. Any user that may post a normal topic in a public forum, any user with access to a private forum may post a normal topic to that private forum.

Only moderators can post a new topic as an announcement, or a sticky topic. If you are not a moderator, you cannot post announcements or sticky topics.

Posting an announcement or a stickie is simple. Click New Topic on the Topic Index page as you would to post an ordinary topic. Then, fill out the Subject and Message Body. Before you click Submit, choose "Announcement" or "Sticky" from the radio buttons below the Message Body.

We'll cover editing in more detail later, but you'll use the same radio buttons for Announcement or Sticky when you're editing a topic. By editing a topic and changing those radio buttons you can turn a normal topic into an Announcement or Sticky.
