Advantages to Forums@BU

There are a number of reasons to use a Forums@BU for online discussion.

Easily updated.
If you can use a web browser you can respond to a topic on Forums@BU. This makes Forums@BU one of the easiest web sites to update: just type your response and click Post.
Automatic archiving.
None of the topics or replies will ever go away. One of the commonly missing features for mailing list software (the closest analogy to forums) is that the archive only lasts as long as you save the messages. With Forums@BU, new users can view and search all of the posts since the forums inception.
Searchable.
All posts and replies are searchable by users who have access to them. So all of the public forums can be searched by anyone, and all of the private forums can only be searched by users with access to them.
Local Expertise.
Often a forum will become a collection of local experts asking and answering their own questions.
