Leaves

Select Edit | Deselect All to make sure nothing is active on the stage.

In the timeline, click the New Layer icon to create a new layer. Double-click the layer and change its name to right leaf. Drag the right leaf layer to the top of the layer list.

Referring to the timeline, the leaves of the flower should appear at frame 5 of the movie and be completely "grown" at frame 15. Select the right leaf layer and highlight frame 5. Select Insert | Keyframe from the menu. You should see a blank keyframe appear in frame 5.

Drag a copy of the leaf graphic from the library to the stage. The keyframe dot in frame 5 should now be filled, indicating that the frame contains a graphic.

You can use the Free Transform tool or the Property Inspector to decrease the size of the leaf graphic.

Highlight frame 15 of the right leaf layer's timeline. Select Insert | Keyframe from the menu. The leaf from frame 5 is now copied to frame 15.

With frame 15 highlighted, move and resize the leaf so it fits on the stem.

To make the leaf appear to grow, we can add a motion tween between frame 5 and frame 15.

In the right leaf layer, highlight frame 5. In the Property Inspector, select Motion from the Tween drop-down menu. Press the Enter key or select Control | Test Movie to play the tween.

Repeat these steps to create another leaf on a layer called left leaf. Note that after dragging a new copy of the leaf graphic from the library, you will need to select Modify | Transform | Flip Horizontal to make it fit on the stem.

The result should look like this:

And play like this:
