Defining optimization settings

We want to tell Fireworks next how (in which file format) to export the slices. Since we only have simple graphics without many shades we will select the GIF format for export.

Let's select all the slices from the frame menu. You can SHIFT+click each of them until all are selected. Selected items are shown with a dark background.

We can apply the export settings now collectively to all the slices.

The export defaults in Fireworks are just what we want. The Optimize panel is next to the Object panel. Just click on the tab to stack it to the front. However, let's discuss the different settings.

Settings: a list of presets
Format: GIF
Palette: WebSnap Adaptive
Loss: 0
Matte: transparent
Colors: 128
Dither: 0%
Transparency: No Transparency

If you want to review the different settings please refer to Fireworks Introduction, where there is a chapter about these terms.
