Filling and replacing a color
The
paint bucket tool allows you to fill areas of similar color with
a different color. You select the color you want to 'pour' onto
the canvas via the fill panel or the color display in the properties
inspector.

The
options for the paint bucket tool are various. We need only be concerned
about the following:
The Fill selection checkbox allows you to apply the fill to the selected
area only. If no marquee is visible, the entire image will be regarded
as the selection.
Preserve transparency works the same as the setting in the pencil
tool i.e., you cannot fill parts of the image that are transparent.
The edge settings and the color tolerance were explained in the
section about the magic wand. You can change the behavior of the
pixels around the area to be filled and how high the degree of likeness
between pixels that are being replaced needs to be.
The
gradient tool allows to fill an object with any of the predefined
or custom defined gradients that are selectable through the fill
selection in the properties inspector. You can press the Edit button
and add your own gradients, save them, and retreive them later.
These saved settings can also be applied to vector objects.
