Using text as mask

Fireworks treats text like any other object. The great thing about it is that even when you turn text into a mask it will remain fully editable. Here is an example for masking with text:

The mask is a text object which was pasted upon the picture of Thomas Edison.

The text remains fully editable, we could change the font, the spelling, the size or the color.

If the object settings in the object panel use the grayscale setting even more interesting effects are possible.

I again applied a slight drop shadow to make the image look more interesting. There are almost no limits to your creativity.

HANDS ON:
Open the image of Thomas Edison and apply different masks to it. Try bitmap masks and create a text mask.
