Color, tone, brightness adjustments

Some basic effects are tools to adjust colors and tones. This allows you to correct dark or bland looking pictures or to stylize them in an interesting way.

Adjust colors

The first option adjust the colors via a mathematical model. The ideal is to have about the same number of pixels in the shadows, the midtones, and the highlights.
If there are too many pixels in either of these ranges the image might look washed out (highlights), bland (midtones), or dark (shadows). The automatic process adjust the settings to achieve the best result.

If you want to play around with it yourself or if you want special effects you can use the other color adjustment effects.

Brightness/Contrast allows you to manually change the levels of brightness and contrast. You get an instant preview and can decide to apply the effect or not.

Color Fill allows you to superimpose a specific color to an object and created a blend of colors. There are multiple blending modes which will be described a bit later. Blending a color into an object works like the Hue/Saturation filter, but here you can actually select the color from a color swatch panel.
